Important Information about Logistics in Venice

–         Read carefully before arrival

Arrival and Craning in/out

Craning and parking will be performed at the Cruise Terminal (Venezia Terminal Passeggeri). We have arranged for a dedicated car and trailer park in the terminal area which is available from Monday 12th June to Tuesday 20th. A detailed map on how to get to the car and trailer park will be sent soon.  As stated in the NOR, additional fees are applied for parking Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th: daily fee for car and trailer is € 60 (to be paid to the race office at the registration by cash or credit card).

2. Access to Car Park upon arrival

Access to the Cruise Terminal is extremely restricted and available to authorised persons only. Therefore we need details of each vehicle, driver and name of each person of your team who needs access to the area. Please send the attached access authorisation form for people and cars by May 31st to segreteria@compvela.com

3. Craning and towing to and from berths

Craning times are limited to Thursday June 15th from 09:30 to 16:00 and Monday June 19th from 09:30 to 16:00.  Berthing is in Arsenale which is about 1 hour tow away. We have arranged for boats to be towed to and from Arsenale on Thursday and Monday. Please make sure that at least two crew members are on board for towing. Considering the local water conditions, make sure your towing line is highly bungee.

As all the activities to set the boat before craning take some time, I kindly recommend to who brings the boat in advance to start these activities on Wednesday, the day before craning. This will help to speed up the process and get the boats to the water smoothly.

4. Transport to and from Car Park

Access to Car Park without car is possible by either taxi (from airport or Piazzale Roma) or People mover and 10 min walk (from Piazzale Roma). There is also a water taxi access close to the Car Park for transfer to Venice.

5. Limited / no Access to Car Park during event

Please note that once your boat leaves the craning area, access to the trailers and/or cars will be very difficult if not impossible. So it is important that you bring all your equipment and personal belongings needed for the event with you when you are towed to Arsenale or transferred to your hotel.

6. Access to Berthing in Arsenale

The Arsenale is a restricted area controlled by the Marina Militare. We have arranged for competitors to have authorised access by foot through the main gate at Porta dei Leoni (see map) each day of the event (Fri-Sat-Sun-Mon) from 8:00 – 9:30 and 5:30PM – 7:00PM. Each crew member needs to be registered and show an ID at the gate. On Thursday from 12:00PM we have arranged a shuttle who will pick you up at Museo Navale (see map) and bring you to the berthing area in Arsenale

7. Towing to and from Race Area

The Race Area is in front of the Lido (sea side). We have arranged for towing to and from the race area each day. Towing will take about 45 min each way.

8. Communication

We are setting a WhatsApp group to be effective with timely communication: please provide the number or numbers you would like to use for being added to.

In addition, from Wednesday 15th we will set a direct line to the Organization you can reach for a prompt answer dialling: +39.351.934.0373.
